Zombie Mugshots

The Pre-Order is available now through bandcamp.

AC/CC is a poetic-musical formation of immersive, intense, and defiant sound practitioners that draw from a depth of experience across Montreal’s music fertile music communities. AC/CC is Sarah Albu on voice and objects, Belinda Campbell on piano and electronics, Marilou Craft on poetry, texts or manipulations of all kinds, and Eric Craven on percussion.

From the first track, aptly titled first (manifesto) through the feverish self-help free jazz infomercial of later tracks such as dance flore and astro qui bûche (signe mental), Marilou Craft’s voice narrates steadfast through swirling waves of chaos and calm, occasionally trading roles with Sarah Albu whose instrumental use of the voice oscillates between soft cottony wisps and demonic screaming. Squelching, animal, grotesque and curious, delicate almost-ballads are shaped by Eric Craven’s incisive drumming and Belinda Campbell’s intricate interventions on keys, vocals and effects.

The unlikely yet perfectly logical combination of four heavy hitters from different corners of Montréal’s experimental scene brings a daring balance of virtuosity and grit to this exciting release.Like a single psyche split into text and sound, Zombie Mugshots hurls the listener through the wringer, simultaneously reassuring us that it’s all going to be ok (but it was never ok).

Black Bough Records is honored to release this work by AC/CC, a group whose members are deeply embedded in forward thinking communities of music and art. We trust that Zombie Mugshots will yield more complexity and fertile sound worlds with each successive experience. Thank you for listening.

AC/CC is performing at Casa del Popolo on Sunday, November 1st, 2026 as part of the Off Flux: Trevor Dunn/Karen NG + AC/CC (Lancement/Launch ZOMBIE MUGSHOTS) presented by Arts in the Margins , Black Bough Records, & Small Scale Music
